The School of Management Studies (SMS)

Since its inception, SMS has been at the forefront of providing both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, evolving to meet the dynamic needs of the industry. Academic Programs

SMS offers a wide range of academic programs designed to cater to the diverse interests and career aspirations of students. These programs are constantly evolving, ensuring that they align with the latest trends and demands of the business environment.

MBA Programme

Since its launch in 1994, the MBA program at SMS has seen significant growth. The program was initially introduced with a modest intake of 40 students specializing in Marketing and Finance. Over the years, it has expanded to include a variety of specializations and sections to cater to the increasing demand for high-quality management education.

  • 1994: Initial launch with an intake of 40 students specializing in Marketing and Finance.
  • 2004: Intake expanded to 60 students, accommodating a broader range of applicants.
  • 2010: The program was further expanded, adding a second section, bringing the intake to 120 students, with dual specializations in Marketing, HR, and Finance.
  • 2019: The MBA program transitioned to single specializations, focusing on enhancing knowledge in key functional areas of management.

BBA Programme

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program was introduced in 2010, with an intake of 60 students. This program has evolved to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the business world.

  • 2010: Launch of the BBA program with an intake of 60 students.
  • 2022: An additional section was introduced, bringing the total intake to 120 students, with two specialized tracks: BBA (General) and BBA (Business Analytics).
  • 2023: The BBA Honours program was introduced, aligning with the New Education Policy. This program offers multiple entry and exit points, and students can choose major and minor specializations, offering them flexibility and customization in their academic journey.

Upcoming Program

Collaboration with MVGR College of Engineering

In the academic year 2025-2026, SMS will launch a new collaborative program in partnership with MVGR College of Engineering. This initiative will leverage shared resources between the institutions to provide students with an enriched learning experience, enhanced practical exposure, and stronger career opportunities. Key amenities will include:

  • Library Resources: Extensive collection of books, journals, and digital materials.

Center for Management Research (CMR)

In 2019, SMS received recognition as a Research Center by Andhra University, further solidifying its reputation as a hub for academic and industry research. The Center for Management Research (CMR) focuses on creating cutting-edge research in the field of management, contributing significantly to the academic community.

  • Research Faculty: Three faculty members are eligible to guide PhD scholars, with four scholars currently pursuing their PhD under their guidance.
  • Global Research Engagement: Our faculty members actively participate in international seminars, workshops, and conferences, ensuring they remain at the forefront of global management research.
  • Publications: SMS faculty members have published extensively in Scopus-indexed, Google Scholar, national, and international journals, and have authored numerous books and research papers.
